Rigging Gear Inspector Level I
The course includes classroom sessions and multiple hands-on inspection activities. Participants learn the removal criteria for wire rope, wire rope slings, synthetic web and round slings, chain slings, rigging hardware, and below-the-hook lifting devices according to the applicable federal and provincial regulations as well as ASME standards.
For anyone who performs rigging inspection for an employer as an assigned task such as a tool room check-out/in team member, or a supervisor who is responsible for the quality of rigging gear in a facility. Also, crane maintenance personnel who inspect running and standing ropes, sheaves, drums and associated equipment during monthly and annual equipment reviews.

Upon Completion
Each student that completes the full 2-day course will receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs), as well as a certificate of completion.
Written exams are administered and participants perform hands-on inspections of used and damaged gear to test their knowledge of the criteria learned. Participants who successfully pass the exams are issued a three-year Level I Qualification. Level II is available to those who meet on-the-job inspection requirements.

Woodland, WA Classes
Includes a tour of a forging facility that manufactures shackles and other rigging hardware as well as a rigging manufacturer's facility where students will participate in testbed activities and a wire rope socketing demonstration.
PPE Information
The following PPE is required for all hands-on sessions at ITI Training Centers:
- OSHA-approved hard hat*
- Eye protection*
- Long pants with no holes or tears
- Low-heeled work boots or work shoes
- Full-fingered work gloves*
- OSHA-approved safety vest*
*ITI Training Centers will make these PPE items available for all enrolled students. Students are responsible for their own appropriate garments and footwear.
