Collaboration Aspires to Inform Industry of OSHA Safety-Related Initiatives
Earlier this month, the NCCCO Foundation and the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (CCO) formalized an agreement with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) through the OSHA Alliance Program.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to keep the industry updated on OSHA's pertinent safety-related initiatives. Signatories of the agreement in Washington, DC, included T.J. Cantwell, Executive Director of the NCCCO Foundation, Thom Sicklesteel, Chief Executive Officer of CCO, and Doug Parker, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health at OSHA.
The Alliance facilitates collaboration among the three organizations to provide workers and employers with information, guidance, and resources promoting workplace safety, health, and awareness of rights and responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Under the OSHA Alliance agreement, the NCCCO Foundation, CCO, and OSHA will jointly work on several initiatives to improve safety in the crane industry, including sharing industry alerts, promoting industry participation in OSHA events and programs, organizing roundtable discussions on crane industry safety, facilitating opportunities for OSHA involvement in industry meetings and events, raising awareness of resources and tools for OSHA regulation compliance, and disseminating information on updates to OSHA load handling regulations and enforcement.
Additionally, the alliance will coordinate training opportunities for OSHA compliance staff, focusing on operator qualification, certification standards, jobsite responsibilities, and equipment demonstrations or innovations. The member organizations will encourage worker participation in workplace safety and health by engaging industry experts to ensure that resources and training materials meet the needs of stakeholders.
This is a developing story, that we're excited to support and continue to provide updates around. Those interested in remaining informed should be sure to check iti.com regularly as the new alliance releases additional updates on specific initiatives, goals, and how fellow industry stakeholders can get involved.
