Industrial Training International (ITI), is expanding training options for Overhead Crane Inspection with three new course offerings via the ITI Learning Hub. The three new courses, along with the existing 3-Day Instructor-Led Overhead Crane Inspector Certification offered at ITI Training Centers and Customer Locations, ensure a suitable solution is available for teams and individuals in need of professional development and skill building in this vital aspect of working with overhead cranes.
To understand which of the new course offerings is the best fit for perspective students, it is imperative to answer the following question - Which type of inspections are you or your employees going to conduct?
Regulatory bodies such as OSHA, ASME, and CMAA recognize two distinct types of inspections: frequent and periodic.
A frequent inspection is defined as a visual and audible inspection typically conducted at the ground or floor level. OSHA 1910.179 and ASME B30.2-2.1.2 highlight frequent inspection requirements in detail.
A periodic inspection is still a visual and audible inspection, but additionally, total access to the crane is required and the inspection cannot be conducted from the floor or ground level in entirety. As the name suggests, periodic inspections are to be performed at regular intervals which are dependent on the service level of the crane in question. OSHA 1910.179 and ASME B30.2-2.1.3 highlight periodic inspection requirements in detail.
Depending on the answer(s) to the question above, the following matrix serves as a guide to finding the most suitable ITI course offering:
