The Association of Crane & Rigging Professionals met April 9-11, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio for their annual General Assembly and Workshop. Over 70 industry participants attended workshops offered by The Crosby Group, North American Crane Bureau, Star Concrete, Samson Ropes, CARGOTEC, Progressive Cranes, Optimum Results and Smith Amundson. The participants enjoyed an educational field trip through Ohio’s largest rigging facility, Mazzella Lifting Products. The tour included short sessions addressing sling fabrication, development and construction of below-the-hook lifting devices and provided insight about Mazzella’s overhead crane manufacturing and service arm.
Subjects offered during the three-day event addressed accident response, crane classification, design, construction and inspection, electronic apps for rigging solutions, OSHA and the workplace, proper and improper pumper truck operations, synthetic rope sling usage and inspections, and process, modular and engineered cranes.
Maximum Capacity Media’s Tracy Bennett was on hand to present the Trainer of the Year awards for Corporate Trainer Bob Berry of Sims Cranes and Professional Trainer Jim Cox of Industrial Training International.
The next ACRP workshop is slated for May 7-10, 2013. For more information, please contact Jeff Gilbert at jeff@acrp.net or 1-800-690-3921.
