Industrial Training International (iti.com) held its second live webinar as a part of "The ITI Showcase Webinar Series".  The series features ITI President/CEO Mike Parnell presenting hour-long webinars on subjects selected by previous registrants.  The Encore Presentation of Cranes, Rigging & Your Organization held 124 registrants on Wednesday, April 11.  On March 16, the same presentation held 140 registrants.

The next installment of the Series will take place on Friday, May 4th and will feature Mike Parnell presenting on Effective Crane & Rigging Training Methods for Your Employees.

ITI has invited Barnhart Crane & Rigging's Senior Vice President of Engineering & Technical Services, Jim Yates, to join Mr. Parnell on June 7th to present: Heavy Intermodal Lift & Transport - Engineering Considerations. 

About the Speakers

Mr. Parnell has a wealth of knowledge regarding cranes, rigging, and lifting activities throughout a variety of industries.  Mike currently sits as the Vice Chair of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) B30 Main Committee which sets the standards in the US for cranes and rigging, also, he is the Chair of the ASME P30 Main Committee which sets the standards for lift planning.  ASME standards are also adopted by many countries around the world including Canada.*

Mr. Yates has over 28 years experience in heavy industry. He is a 1983 graduate of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, where he earned a BS in Aerospace Engineering. During his 7 years as an Officer in the nuclear navy, he served in a variety of positions aboard nuclear submarines. He earned a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1990 at the University of Connecticut.

Mr. Yates joined the Tennessee Valley Authority at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in 1990. He earned a Senior Reactor Operators license (#21223) and held a number of operating and engineering management positions including Assistant Shift Ops Supervisor, Hot Functional Test Coordinator, NSSS Supervisor and Unit Manager.

Mr. Yates joined Barnhart Crane & Rigging in 1997. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Connecticut, Tennessee and Alabama. He is currently serving as the SVP of Engineering & Technical Services in the corporate office. His current responsibilities include oversight of all engineering functions to support heavy lift, rigging and heavy haul services to all markets including, fossil power generation, wind turbine erection & maintenance, nuclear and DOE, refineries, heavy civil, and general construction. Mr. Yates is an ASME Sub-Committee Member for B30.1 (Jacks, Rollers, Casters) and P30 Main Committee (Lift Planning).

I hope that all of you that enjoyed the last 2 webinars make a point of passing along the info for the May and June presentations. There is always more to learn and having free access to these webinars is great way to do so. Please pass the info along to your employees and competitors. "Good Practices" improve Safety a common goal for everyone in the Hoisting and Rigging business!
