An interesting thing to keep in mind this week, Sheldon Redpath, Global Head of SHE-Q and Rob Day from the Office of Regulatory Change Management with Suncor Energy will be hosting a webinar on crane and rigging competencies and tracking those competencies.

One challenge is creating a consistent interpretation of what is needed when verifying individual skills. A functioning competency system is critical to a positive safety culture and for demonstrating due diligence. To help improve the way competency is measured withing the crane and rigging field, an industry focused improvement team was established to evaluate a skills assessment tool created with the help of the International Competency Assessment Board (I-CAB).
