The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has posted on its website a letter of interpretation, clarifying whether or not a practical test is required for recertification of crane operators. The letter from James G. Maddux, OSHA’s Director of the Directorate of Construction, was in response to a question posed by James Callahan, General President of the International Union of Operating Engineers. READ MORE. WASHINGTON – The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) today issued a direct final rule and notice of proposed rulemaking that applies the requirements of the August 2010 cranes and derricks in construction standard to demolition work and underground construction.
